The Therapy Barn is located on US Route 9 right between Red Hook and Rhinebeck. It is a beautiful space with several large private offices, a workshop room, and plenty of parking. We also have an outside area that offers privacy for any type of session.
We follow a strict cleaning protocol that includes wiping down every surface with antibacterial wipes, emptying garbage, swiffering, antibacterial spray between sessions. We wash anything washable, open doors for fresh air and vacuum offices daily. Practitioners wash hands between sessions, and we encourage our visitors to wash hands before and after session. We practice social distancing at the Therapy Barn and wear masks as required.

At the Therapy Barn Jen Lansky is working towards her licensure in Mental Health Counseling. It is important for the therapist to be able to be present and helpful in session. In group and individual supervision, I guide the supervises towards sharpening their therapy skills. I am asking Jen to apply learned theory, widen her interpretations, and try and apply different treatment strategies, all to be able to provide each of her clients safe and process-oriented therapy.

About Jen Lansky, MHC-LP:
Lo and I went to graduate school together at State University of New York at New Paltz and formed a bond as the students of our cohort. Though we have different therapeutic outlooks and theoretical perspectives, we share a deep respect for our work and for one another and share an abiding belief in the transformative power of the therapist/client relationship.
During my schooling, I provided one on one counseling to college students in the campus Psychological Counseling Center and also worked with individuals, couples, families and groups at the Oncology Support Program affiliated with HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston. At the OSP, I worked with clients who were dealing with their own or a loved one’s cancer, some as they underwent treatment and others years after the experience, from the distance at which it felt safe to emotionally process. After taking time out to start a family, I am returning to my chosen vocation of Mental Health Counselor at the Therapy Barn in Rhinebeck, where I will work under Lo’s supervision as I gain my hours towards licensure.

We all have the same basic needs; to love, to be loved, and to feel that we have worth. When these needs go unfulfilled, we get anxious and depressed and our relationships suffer. I believe the purpose of therapy is to reduce those symptoms by addressing their root causes. Your expectations of love and yourself were formed by your prior relationships. Let’s make sure that those expectations are healthy and realistic. Let’s figure out how your past has influenced your present, for good and for bad, and find the tools to be your best and strongest self in the future.
We will work together to explore your specific needs and expectations and to develop the language with which you can ask for what you need and want, both from yourself and from those with whom you are in relationship. I will create a safe space for you to explore your inner narrative to make it a kinder, more constructive conversation.
Life and therapy can be difficult but so rewarding. Let’s bring our genuine selves to session and do the work together.
With patience, undivided attention, empathy and humor, I will be with you in the work, helping to make connections and to remind you that you have the power to decide how you address crises and who you are in the face of your insecurities..
I am currently providing only Teletherapy until it is safe to do otherwise.
